A summer home rumored to once belong to the Onassis family, this pandemic purchase started out as a cast of grays and beige that didn’t exactly compliment its new owners’ taste. But it was the layout of this sunny, 3-story future dream house that drew them in—from plentiful meeting areas both in & outdoors, to the seamless flow of each room into the next, this home’s reliable skeleton lent itself to their social, family-oriented lifestyle, and made the perfect blueprint for all the more modern, personalized flourishes to come.

This was our third time working with the same family, meaning we were no stranger to their love of colors and patterns in their living spaces. To amp up the contrast and edge of the space, we got our hands on a variety of playful, vibrant wallpapers to install across all three levels of the residence, and were able to reuse several furnishings, floor coverings and art from their previous summer home. Thanks in part to our fabulous working relationship, we moved in tandem with the clients to give their traditional Jersey residence a livelier, more whimsical twist.

Featured in Architectural Digest, this project encapsulates some of our favorite elements of interior design: collaborative reinvention, the union of old & new, and informing the personality of a space through the personality of its people.
