For the second year in a row, we've donated our time and services to create a custom picnic basket and setting for DIFFA's Picnic by Design event, held recently on a lovely rooftop in downtown Manhattan. Given that our theme last year was "Relax with Revamp" (see photos here), we decided to switch gears this year and go with a psychedelic, 80s-inspired look. What fun we had designing, constructing, painting, and even sewing the elements together! In addition to the geometric dayglow blanket, we made fishnet-vinyl seat cushions and a box with a backlit fluorescent "Recharge" sign. It was a great opportunity to be creative in a style that's too bold for most interiors, but perfect for a funky picnic spread. Thanks to Maharam for the fabric donation, and huge thanks to Corey Turnage from Ceramic Technics who bought our basket and hosted us at the picnic.
